Hermes thinks with free Nous Portal models only, using your own key. Get one at portal.nousresearch.com → API Keys. The autoselector pings the smartest free models every 5 s and falls back instantly if one is busy.

You can paper trade right away. API keys are only needed for live trading (add them under Settings).

Keys are checked with read-only calls, encrypted at rest and never shown again. Keys with withdraw/transfer permission are rejected where the exchange reports it.
